kev - no offence taken. Theres a tonne of great stuff out there: shynola, SSSR, cunningham, wiz, pleix, dougal wilson, neo, hammer&tongs, gondry ... all of whom are responsible for near flawfless stuff as well as the odd clanger, but just the usual suspects. Ive pretty average taste, & probably dont look at enough new work... mainly cos theres a dirth of good material posted on this site & i dont have time to trawl elsewhere. However i cant also say id ever look to music videos for 'inspiration' either - why would anyone? Rarely leads to anything but plagiarism.
Theres quite a big world just off to the left thats full of inspiring stuff that isnt over in 3 minutes & set to music.
im also well aware that a vid can be hobbled by factors outside of the directors remit, and that a bad vid doesnt always mean a bad director, im as guilty of a dull jb as anyone, but this scott fellas pretty consistantly poop, and probably suffering more from his dads shadow than profiting from it... he may have better access/contacts and all the advantages that go with an uberdirector dad, but the pressure as a result must be immense. At the same time though it suprises me that he doesnt fail by over reaching rather than smearing out this stuff.
The badu directors cut was truly truly bad - pointless.
he should be doing stuff like
Deichkind - 'Ich Betäube Mich'
