I don't think it's simply about resolution. In any case, there's no reason at all why Quicktimes can't be compressed and put on line with at least as much quality as cable TV (not known for the pristine brilliance of its image).
I think it's true to say though that the way we relate to the TV compared to the internet couldn't be more different.
I remember a guy at college who was right by the Sussex pub when it was blown up by the IRA. He claimed it wasn't until he could get home and see it on the TV that he really started to believe what he'd seen first hand. Such is the monolithic, ratifying presence of TV.
The internet is different. We generally control the media that we see and watch it in neat little windows or file it away on our hard-drives. The relationship seems to be that of the collector.

I have more or less a question to throw it in, I'm not in the business, but I have the feeling that there are not alreydy so many MVs who're made for little screens, to watch them online or on ipods - so does the fact that MVs are a medium which moved from MTV > online already touched the esthetic of videos? Does it play a role, when you're shooting a video?
